– Doolin Ferry, Ireland’s largest passenger ferry operator, had the honour of hosting world-renowned Celebrity Chef Gordon Ramsay during his visit to Inis Oírr, the smallest of the Aran Islands,  for filming of the National Geographic ‘Uncharted’ TV series.

Showcasing the West of Ireland

The upcoming season of National Geographic’s acclaimed series: ‘Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted’ will put the stunning landscapes of the Aran Islands and Cliffs of Moher on the map for a worldwide audience.

In the series, the chef travels to some of the most incredible and remote locations on the planet in search of culinary inspiration, epic adventures, and cultural experiences.

For Season 4, Ramsay travelled with Doolin Ferry to Inis Oírr (Inisheer), the smallest of the three Aran Islands and filmed scenes by the iconic Plassey Shipwreck.

This trip will feature in an episode titled ‘The Cliffs of Ireland’ which also includes a segment with Irish chef Anna Hugh cooking against the stunning backdrop of the Cliffs of Moher.


Gordon Ramsay Buzz

There was great excitement on board Doolin Ferry during the visit as Gordon Ramsay mingled with the crew and even took the helm of the ferry briefly!

Liam O’Brien, owner of Doolin Ferry, expressed his excitement about Ramsay’s visit, saying, “Having Gordon on board brought a buzz of excitement for us all. He was incredibly personable, chatting with the crew and posing for photographs. He even took the wheel of the ferry for a moment, fully immersed in the experience.”

“We’re eagerly awaiting his upcoming National Geographic show, knowing that it will captivate audiences, not only for Gordon’s delicious culinary creations but also for showcasing the stunning landscape of the west coast of Ireland,” Liam continued.

Gateway to the Aran Islands & Cliffs of Moher

The National Geographic ‘Uncharted’ TV Series will shine a spotlight on the stunning scenery of the West Coast of Ireland.

‘The Cliffs of Ireland’ episode in Season 4, also includes a segment featuring Gordon Ramsay cooking atop the Cliffs of Moher, with well-known Irish chef Anna Haugh, owner of Myrtle Restaurant in London.

The Cliffs of Moher is one of Ireland’s most visited landmarks and best experienced from sea level to be fully appreciated.

The boat tour takes 50 minutes and can be taken on its own or included in your Aran Island itinerary. Sailings daily from Doolin pier with the award-winning Doolin Ferry Company.
