It’s the 11th annual Burren Slow Food Festival this year! The festival is taking place from Friday to Sunday, 12th – 14th May. This year’s festival theme is “Best of Irish GIN and Raw IRISH CHEESES”- what’s not to love there? The entire weekend of talks and events will be centered around the delicious food & drinks that the sea and land around us have on offer. And what better way to start the weekend off than with a Burren Seafood Picnic under the Cliffs of Moher?
This cruise to the magnificent Cliffs of Moher will inspire your palate and show you the habitats of Ireland’s sea life in it’s bounty, edible and otherwise! Passing lobster pots along the way the ferry will make it’s way down the 5 kilometers of coastline that stretches from Doolin to beneath O’Brien’s Tower standing high on the Cliffs. Here you can take in the sights and sounds of the sea all while enjoying a locally sourced picnic of foods and a special glass of refreshment.
The 2017 Burren Slow Food Festival will be officially kicked off the next day May 13th, launched by John Mulcahy the Head of Food Tourism of Failte Ireland at midday in the Pavilion Theatre, Lisdoonvarna. After the kick off there will be a series of demonstrations and talks by chefs and food industry specialists. There is a special guest attending, executive chef Jonathan Keane from the beautiful Lodge at Ashford Castle. He will be performing a cookery demo – a real treat for all the foodies out there!

Artisan Food Producers / Slow Food Farmers’ Market
Farmers Market: This takes place from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday. The market will be outside and inside the Pavilion Hall where you can taste and eat foods on the spot, or take it home for later. There will also be an array of non-food products available, all from small producers from the area.
